Advanced Linkbuilding and the Death of Pagerank – Monday October 19th Roundup

Back from one of the worst plane flights ever. I was going to list the madness that I went through trying to get home, but it was seriously a page long. So let’s just say it was insane. What could go wrong went wrong. But I’m back now, and have a Monday roundup ready for you all.

This week we have advanced linkbuilding videos, the death of pagerank, a great social media plug-in for wordpress, and more.

Internet Marketing and SEO

  • We start the week with a series of advanced Link building techniques from Christoph Cemper (Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3),
  • If you were still thinking that PageRank (or at least Toolbar page rank) was meaningful, Google—in another stage of it’s battle between common sense and Google history—has just removed it from webmaster tools. Score one common sense.

Technology

  • Float is one of the most used CSS properties, a lifesaver for the post-table world. However, it—like many CSS properties—has specific uses and is tricky beast for new web designers to master. Fortunately smashingmag has a guide to the float property this week, explaining the nuances this ever useful property.
  • Latentmotion is really winning my heart here. After last weeks awesome GA email alerts plug-in, they’ve provided one of the coolest linkbait/citation plug-in’s I’ve ever seen. Kudos, guys.

Web Analytics

Web Usability
  • Expert reviews are useful, but how do they hold up against usability testing? Each has its place and, as uxmatterx explains, it’s up to each company to decide how much time to allocate to each, but they do explain the steps you must take in making these decisions.
  • ROI revolution is providing a universal conversion code for GWO, allowing you to add the code once and let it sit, instead of having to update your conversion page every time you set up a new experiment.
