Attention Span on the Web

Below are some interesting highlights from an interview by Leslie Walker and Jakob Nielsen.

-20 words is approximately the number of words that a web surfer will read on a home page.

– 27 seconds is the average amount of time web surfers spend on a page as they skim and scan for information and text links.

My comments.

This reinforces the importance of keeping your content simple and to the point. This is easier said than done. Good concise copywriting is a difficult skill to master for most. You may need to hire someone to help you get it right. Finally, always be looking to improve what you have.
