New offices, more staff, big changes around VKI right now. What can I say? When the world turns left we go right.
Good week in the blogosphere too, with mobile web statistics, cross browser compatibility testing, and statistics on just how attached people are to Google.
Internet Marketing and SEO
- We start the week with emarketer and Make your Emails go Viral. Unfortunately this isnt really about making your emails go viral, but rather statistics on the use of social sharing in email. Only 17% provide social sharing features, apparently. Apalling!
- Forrester is looking at a personal favourite topic: the movile web. Their claim? The Mobile Web Audience is larger than you think. A true statement, even if they end with the conclusion that as smartphones catch on we’ll watch the mobile web flourish. Ok, so maybe we will somewhat, but it ignores the fact that the reason weather.com and people.com generate so many mobiel hitsw is because they produce proper mobile content: easily checkable, convienient content to get while youre on the go.
Technology
- More (old) IBM developer works link: The busy Java developer’s guide to Scala: Don’t get thrown for a loop!. Not much to say, the title is pretty descriptive of the document.
- Now this is a cool top 7 list (and I hate top X lists!): 7 Awesome Resources to Test Cross Browser Compatibility of Your Website.
Web Analytics
- From the horses mouth, Getting Started with the Google Analytics API. Most users wont ever have to do anything with this, but for those Google analytics mavens out there (I’m looking at you BrianK) this must be like candy.
- From ROIRevolution, Five Google Analytics Fails. A lot of these are pretty easy mistakes to make.
Web Usability
- I know we usually do blog posts, but here is a pretty cool slideshare on emotion, trust, and the strategy of emotive design.
- Somehwere between internet marketing and usability (as if the two are more than just two sides of the same coin) there is uxmatters with online advertising: factors that influence customer experience..
Miscellaneous links of the week:
- Secretly I am an interfacing maven, and thus is exites me that windows 7 is implementing support for multipoint touch screens.
- We know that Google is big, but just how big? No, that massive portion of the search mrket share isnt enough of a metric to work with, apparently people who search with Google frequently ONLY search with Google, while MSN and Yahoo users will often use Google as well. Thats serious market dominance.
