Recovering backlinks, error 404's and design fads – The Monday Jan 17th Roundup

I guess by the second week people are back in the swing of things, since the internet is awfully quiet this week.

This week we have posts on recovering backlinks when changing domains, error 404 messages, design fads and Google Refine.

Internet Marketing and SEO
  • We start the week off with ClickEquations and The Wall Street Journal. Specifically, the WSJ’s understanding of session based broad match advertising.
  • Next up is Get Elastic with advice on recovering backlinks when changing domains. Their advice? 301’s, link building, etc. A little standard, but good advice.
Technology
  • Smart GWT 2.4 has been released. This UI widget library now offers touch and mobile support for the iPhone/pad/pod, and an HTML5 charting engine.
  • Mashable has 33 error 404 pages. I’m not sure that many of these are actually good, as most of them just stall the user at that page. Audiko’s at least offers a search function, and a few others offer some cool tips.
