Last night was another great event in the Web Marketing Wednesday series in Ottawa.

Once 6pm rolled around, it seemed like everyone had found their niche conversation to contribute to. There was a broad set of skills among the attendees – everything from SEO experts to mobile and desktop app developers – so there was every sort of person to meet. And there were a ton of new faces in the room, along with many regulars.

Antoine Gay and Alexandre Metier of AT Internet then took the stage to share their expertise in privacy and spreading web analytics in large organizations. Privacy is a growing issue in the web analytics community as internet marketing becomes more targeted, and we even had one person in attendance who recently had money stolen through an online banking security breach. How can online marketers balance these interests? (A whole conference could be organized around that!)

Spreading web analytics inside organizations can be a challenge, as any web analyst will tell you. We discussed some tactics for accomplishing this task, like creating potent dashboards and giving every department the information that applies specific to it.
